:: Program Fees ::

Cost of the study is approximately $6,160 and includes airfare, lodging, and excursions. Passport, international student I.D., texts, food and incidentals are not included. In addition to program fee, students will pay regular academic fees to Cal Poly. The total estimated fees are between $8,710 and $9,725, which includes program fees, health coverage, tuition, texts, food, passport and incidentals.

The cost is broken down into three main categories:

1. Tuition. All students must enroll in a minimum of 12 Cal Poly units. It is not recommended that students take more than 16 units on the program. Cal Poly tuition varies by college/academic unit.

2. Program Fee. The program fees total $5,000.00. The program fee includes lodging in shared apartments, University of Adelaide facilities usage, fieldtrips, health insurance and administration fees.

3. Personal Expenses. The following expenses may be incurred and exact dollar amounts may vary.

* Personal expenses (travel, spending money, laundry, entertainment, etc.). This cost will vary according to an individual's spending habits.

Financial Aid
Eligible students, both those now receiving financial aid and those not receiving financial aid, may qualify for aid. In some cases, financial aid will be increased to meet the extra expenses incurred with an overseas quarter. It is highly recommended that you consult a financial aid officer to discuss your individual situation.

Payment Schedule

The program deposit of $500 is due no later than June 7, 2007 and is paid to Cal Poly at the cashiers office on the first floor in Building 1. Final payments of the remaining balance, also paid to the cashiers office is due no later than October 2, 2007.

Methods of Payments

There are three ways that students can pay the deposit and program fees.

  1. Make a check out to Cal Poly, bring it to the cashiers and bring the receipt to the program office (Bldg. 38 Room 145).  Let the cashier know that the money is for the Australia Study Program. Bring the reciept to Australia Study office Bldg. 38 Room 145.

  2. By eCheck*, go to http://www.afd.calpoly.edu/Student_Accounts/onlinepayments.htm.  Select General Payment for your payment. Then email the Tammy Logan in Student Accounts, at talogan@calpoly.edu, with a copy sent to the program director at rleroy@calpoly.edu, and let her know that your payment was for the Australia Study Program. There is no transaction fee for eChecks!

  3. By credit card* (Sorry, no VISA).  Per your request,a charge can be put on your students account and then you can pay by credit card.   You will be charged a convenience fee of 2.9%.  Please email the program director if you would like a charge placed on your student account.

Authorization to Release Student Account Information

Students are highly encouraged to complete a FERPA form with Student Accounts so their account information can be released to parents or others while they are abroad. Without this form, Student Accounts office will not be able to discuss account information with anyone but the student.

Refund Policies

Cal Poly and Australia Study have different refund policies, and a few of the expenses are non-refundable. Please pay attention to the following refund schedules:

  • Cal Poly Tuition:
    Consult Cal Poly Student Accounts Office for tuition refund policy.

  • Australia Study :
    If a student withdraws from the program prior to October 2, 2007, a full refund less $100 ($75 processing and $25 non refundable application fee) will be given. If a student withdraws from the program on or after October 2, 2007, a refund less the program deposit ($500) and any costs incurred by the program up to that point will be given.

Scholarships
Students have the opportunity to apply for scholarships to offset the costs of participating in the Australia Study program. Please visit the International Education and Programs Office webpage on scholarships. College of Agriculture students can apply to the International Agriculture Development Scholarships.
